Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool is one of the premiere East Coast knitter events. Yes, knitters have events. They tend to involve other knitters, yarn, and, often sheep. This one had all the requisites and I spent Sunday squealing over sheep, knitting celebrities, alpacas, and gorgeous yarn, some of which came home with me.
There were a lot of vendors selling things like yarn, roving (not yet spun yarn), and accouterments knitters might use, like shawl pins.
There were patterns and finished knits for sale as well.
For the non-knitters, they a great buildling just for food (cheese! honey! dips! NY wines!) as well as your usual fair foods (lots of lamb, rather efficient given all the wool…) and fun events for kids of all sizes. I took a quick jaunt around the arts and crafts winners before we went to see the 4H ANIMALS!!!

1. HiHiHiHi, 2. Post-shorn, 3. Dreaded Forelocks
4. Redheaded Sheep, 5. Jacob Sheep, 6. Fluffy
It was an absolutely wonderful Saturday that I got to spend with amazing Cassy who flew out from Arkansas with her beau to attend the event (and visit friends in the tri-state area). The weather was beautiful, the people were kind, the food was delicious, and the leaves are turning. Ah, fall in the Hudson Valley, someone get me a hot drink so I can properly admire all the foliage!
