<p>It&#8217;d cold, damp, as you can see from out my aunt&#8217;s apartment a few days ago, but delicious here. Taiwan is not where you want to go in January if you&#8217;re looking for a break from dreary north American winters, my friends, so be ye not stupid when packing!</p>
<p>I hope you had a great New Year&#8217;s. Mine was spent napping (hello, jetlag!) and watching the Taipei 101 fireworks from the apartment of a family friend&#8217;s cousin (say that 3 times fast!), celebrating the beginning of the Republic of China&#8217;s Centennial with someone only 6 years younger than Taiwan! The fireworks weren&#8217;t spectacular, as the smoke soon obscured the building, but the building was lit up in commemoration of the national holiday and that was pretty cool. You can see the lights at around 1:54 in the following video, and the smog:</p>
